About Me
I’m a Scottish DJ/PRODUCER, radio presenter, event organiser, and creative media practitioner with over twenty years in the DANCE music scene. My work spans club performance, radio broadcasting, sound production, and brand development - all driven by a lifelong commitment to trance and high‑energy electronic music.
Alongside my professional career, I’ve built a strong academic foundation in sound production, radio, podcasting, and modern music industries. My brand, NuNRG - THE EMPIRE OF TRANCE, reflects my creative identity and my mission to push trance culture forward through research, practice, and innovation.
My research explores how trance music evolves within today’s modern music industries - technologically, culturally, and economically. I work at the intersection of music production, audience behaviour, and industry innovation, focusing on.
-
Trance identity - how the genre maintains its emotional core while adapting to new tools and global trends.
-
Artist–audience connection - how branding, storytelling, and performance shape loyalty and community.
-
Digital transformation - how streaming, social platforms, and AI reshape discovery and distribution.
-
Event culture - how trance events create immersive environments that reinforce shared identity.
Why My Work Matters
Trance is more than a genre - it’s a culture built on energy, emotion, and collective experience. My research aims to understand how that culture adapts and thrives in a rapidly changing industry. By combining academic study with real‑world practice, I bring a dual perspective that helps explain.
-
How trance artists stay competitive in a saturated digital landscape
-
How branding and narrative strengthen audience connection
-
How events and radio anchor community identity
-
How emerging technologies open new creative and commercial pathways
This work contributes to a broader understanding of how niche genres innovate and sustain themselves within global music ecosystems.
My Vision
My long‑term goal is to develop a framework that helps trance creators, promoters, and communities navigate the future of the genre - preserving its emotional essence while embracing new tools, platforms, and cultural shifts. My research bridges theory and practice, reflecting my career across DJing, radio, and sound production.
